Are you looking for a healthy, fudgy, low calorie gluten free brownie? I have a solution for you. I’ve discovered simply the best gluten free brownie from a mix: Silver Fern Brand Gluten Free brownies.
I received a free brownie mix to try in exchange for this post and links within this post are affiliate links. All opinions are mine alone.
Gluten free baking is a challenge no matter how you endeavor it. Our family has a number of special diets and a great deal of planning is necessary to accommodate the special needs required.
When you are making gluten free brownies from a recipe, there are a variety of options. You can use special flours, such as almond flour. When using specialty flours, a mixture of flours will often yield the best results. Here is a recipe from King Arthur flour using almond flour.
You can also skip the flour all together such as in this recipe for Rich Fudgy Flourless brownies. My friend and paleo cook Jen uses a similar process with these Go-To Almond Butter Chocolate Chip cookies in this recipe.
However, let’s face it – there are times you need something and you need it NOW. This is where a mix comes in handy.

These mixes are gluten free, high in protein, and all natural.
The other thing that impressed me with these mixes is that they were low in carbs and calories. Many gluten free items are quite high in calories and fat, and these are just 70 calories per serving in the mix.
To the mix, add butter and 2 eggs.
These are awesome fresh from the oven. They would be great with a vanilla ice cream of your choosing, or banana “ice cream.”
These gluten free brownies do taste different from regular brownies. The texture is different. Those who are used to gluten free baking will enjoy them, but people who are not used to gluten free items might not like them as much.
Definitely be sure to err on the side of under baking them so they stay soft.
I found myself going back for the left-overs, which is always a good sign.
